This year, CANSA partnered with Professor Apffelstaedt and Pink Lady Apples for their care week campaign namely “Caring for the Carer”. The campaign aimed to spoil and honour the nurses and social workers that care for the patients at Tygerberg Hospital, as well as the individuals who care for their loved ones at home. Professor Apffelstaedt, volunteers and employees of CANSA Cape Metro office visited the waiting rooms and wards at Tygerberg Breast Clinic and handed out biscuits, apples, words of encouragement and information pamphlets to both patients and carers.
