Our expert team will be with you every step of the way during the unfortunate event of a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment process.
When your mammogram and/or ultrasound examination shows an area of concern, further investigation will be indicated. Additional imaging and/or a fine needle aspiration (FNA) or needle core biopsy may be done.
In the vast majority of cases, it is not necessary to have a breast biopsy in theatre at a hospital to make a diagnosis of breast cancer or confirm that a lesion is benign. We do not perform Vacuum Assisted Biopsies as these are very traumatic to patients, destroy the architecture of the specimen and are very expensive. We have the ability to accurately target even very small lesions with small diameter needles.
We do small procedures such as FNA and needle core biopsies in the rooms, which is less traumatic, far more cost effective, convenient and much better for the patient.
We offer management of breast cancer treatment in a multidisciplinary environment
Our team consists of surgical, medical and radiation oncologic specialists and plastic surgeons with a specific interest in breast cancer and its management.
We understand that cosmetically acceptable outcomes are of paramount importance to the psychological wellbeing of our patients; therefore plastic and reconstructive surgery is also an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment.
Treatment options are discussed with the patient and partner, and we will take the time to answer all questions you or your partner may have.
A Multidisciplinary Breast Health Centre provides just that: access to specialised professional disciplines who combine their recommendations in an optimal and uniquely individualised treatment plan.
